Hudson McEntire and I met in Tennessee several years ago and he told me about fishing the Mississippi River Delta in December. Since that day I’ve made it a goal to visit Hudson and fly fish the marshes’ canals and lakes with him.
For me, any trip to Louisiana includes a visit to the National World War 2 museum. I used a full day to experience the sights, sounds, and stories of the war from both the European and Pacific theaters. My uncle Stephen Ambrose and his close friend Nick Mueller conceived and initiated the museum in the 1980’s when they were professors of history at LSUNO.
In addition to fly fishing the Mississippi River Delta, cooking red fish on the half shell tacos, and touring the museum, Jeff Wilder and I ate beignets at Cafe du Monde and walked through the French Quarter enjoying the music, sights and sounds of the streets of New Orleans.
